a. formal challenge
{ the brief }
Girlfriend's formal issue on inexpensive ways to put together your year 12 formal outfit.
Build an inexpensive formal look around an item that (the nominated) Girlfriend reader nominates
from their own wardrobe and work this into a fab formal do.
{ the reality }
This was one of the trickiest projects to work on. Trying to re-work pieces from someone
else's wardrobe and turning this into a formal look. You need to really turn on your creative senses.
{ the contestant }
Meet Chelsea, the chosen Girlfriend reader who was chosen for the challenge.
A gorgeous year 12 student who was a delight to dress. I mean really - what girl doesn't love
playing dress ups? Especially at Girlfriend mag.
{ the outfit }
I styled Chelsea in a stunning red-aubergine lace top that featured a sweet collar with one of
her dresses that I re-formed to make a skirt. I transformed copper chains that I got from
a hardware store into 2 separate necklaces that became a really incredible neckpiece once positioned
under the collar. The look was finished with a pair if her peep toes and a vintage looking clutch.
{ the final word }
Whenever styling a look from your wardrobe, remember innovation, confidence and creativity are key.
Accessories like jewels, shoes and a clutch can always transform any outfit and make it appear brand new.
